BLOCK 6: EDUCATE & ACTIVATE YOUR COMMUNITYWe have reached the final section of our coursework. We have deepened our understanding of human rights by examining primary documents and secondary documents. We have studied the evolution of the changing conception of human rights both in the United States and in other regions of the world. We have dealt with the dilemma of the balance of conflicting ideologies based on our world’s cultural diversity. In this final section of study you will devise a plan to meet a human rights challenge in your local community. To start this—Do some research (then do some more) in your area of interest: What are the local needs in this area? Who needs to be educated on the basics of human rights? How would you reach this audience? Present your research in the form of an action research proposal that shows your plan to educate and activate your local community members with a pedagogical tool (see final project description).
